The team behind Peninsula is unique in a number of ways. They are experienced viticulturalists, winemakers and wine marketers. The aggregated expertise of the team is what allows them to integrate all steps from vineyard to glass and to offer wines that are superior in authenticity, sustainability and competitiveness – the core values of Peninsula. Authentic wines to do not fit a specific mold, they embrace diversity and have at their heart a strong sense of place. For many, sustainability is just a buzzword, but for Peninsula it is about taking responsibility – as viticulturists, winemakers and citizens – to ensure actions now respect and protect the environment for the future. Peninsula’s vineyards are organically farmed and managed as integrated eco-systems that protect biodiversity, from the centenary oak trees and wild birds to the micro-organisms in the soils. The wines are made with as little intervention as possible in a process that also aims to minimize both carbon and water footprints, as well as waste generation. It also means creating viable market access for wines made from vineyards in risk of being abandoned, assuring a fair and sustainable income for growers and the communities that depend on them.
